Art at the Haerlin*** - tradition meets modernity
Vier Jahreszeiten Cherubs
The ambience at Restaurant Haerlin*** uniquely combines modern accents with preserved traditions that keep the history of the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten alive. A special eye-catcher are the famous cherubs from the Nymphenburg porcelain manufactory, which represent the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter.

These precious works from the restaurant's opening year in 1919 are displayed in specially designed showcases. This keeps the heritage of the ‘old’ Restaurant Haerlin*** alive, while at the same time enriching the interior design with new, contemporary elements.

Chandelier
A chandelier specially manufactured in Prague by the renowned company ‘Lasvit’ and designed by artist Vera Soukupová, consisting of over 20,000 black and white crystals on 1,000 pearl strands and weighing over 250 kilograms, creates a warm and cosy atmosphere in the Restaurant Haerlin***.
Etchings by Wolfgang Werkmeister
At Restaurant Haerlin***, modern three-star cuisine meets vibrant contemporary art. The impressive etchings by Hamburg artist Wolfgang Werkmeister (born 1941) capture the landscapes of northern Germany from his Hamburg, West Coast and Baltic Sea cycles and reflect the high standards of Haerlin***. At the same time, they emphasise the deep roots of the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in the region. Originality and precision enter into a harmonious dialogue with the poetry of the place and combine to create a lasting pleasure for all the senses.

Werkmeister is a master of etching and is mentioned in the same breath as his great predecessors Liebermann, Nolde and Anders Zorn. He is regarded as a highly esteemed maverick of the Hamburg art scene who has never been concerned with fashions and trends; his works can be found in the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the Altonaer Museum, Gottorf Castle and the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, among others.
Werkmeister is uncompromisingly committed to visible reality and the radicalism of black-and-white contrast. The emphasis on light and dark, graphic structures and the finest shades of grey characterise his works and reflect the simplicity of the coastal region. Craftsmanship, creativity and consistency are the cornerstones of the new Haerlin***; Wolfgang Werkmeister's art follows the same principles.
